The POS Evaluation Project was presented with the Vice Chancellors award for Excellence 2016/17 – Multi-Campus Research Collaboration: One UWI Award.

Professor Alafia Samuels Principal Investigator, The George Alleyne Chronic Disease Research Centre, Cave Hill Campus collected the award.

This research project 2014-2017 was characterised by its multi-campus, multi-agency research team. The project’s objective was to evaluate, seven years on, the implementation of the CARICOM NCD Summit Political Declaration in order to learn lessons to support and accelerate its further implementation.

With non-communicable diseases recorded as the leading cause of death and disability in the region, results of the study offer recommendations for accelerating NCD action at regional and national level.
